Welcome to Bronze Bell

Welcome to Bronze Bell, a space dedicated to preserving and sharing the authentic tradition of Tong Zhong Gong (铜钟功) —the ancient «Bronze Bell Art» of internal qigong and martial arts from Wenzhou, China.
This website was created with a clear purpose: to share the essence and knowledge of this profound internal practice. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or have just discovered this gem of Chinese martial arts and qigong, this space is designed to be a source of rigorous and authentic information.
Here you will find the detailed history of the style, its fundamental practice principles, and the living transmission of a lineage that continues to this day.

The Art Behind the Name
Tong Zhong Gong, whose name evokes the image of a bronze bell firmly planted in the earth, is an internal art that combines Shaolin martial tradition with profound principles of traditional Chinese medicine. Its name comes from the fundamental standing posture, where the body, held erect and relaxed, resembles a solid bronze bell—rooted, immovable, yet empty within.
From its origins with an Emei Mountain monk during the Qing Dynasty, through the key figures of Jiang Youshan (蒋幼山) and Dai Junying (戴俊英) , to the systematization by Ma Youzhong (马有忠) in the 20th century, this art has demonstrated invaluable benefits for both health and martial development.

My Personal Connection and the Lineage

My journey with Tong Zhong Gong began 15 years ago. Drawn by its health benefits and profound philosophy, I had the immense fortune to become a student of Master Ye Yuequan (叶跃权) —a teacher who has dedicated his life to the practice and teaching of this art.
Master Ye Yuequan received direct transmission from one of the most important figures of the 20th century, Ma Youzhong (马有忠) , under whose guidance he deepened his knowledge, specializing in the dialectical exercise methods (辩证施功法) . This line of transmission, which connects directly to the great systematizers of the style, is the foundation of my practice and the heart of this project.
I created Bronze Bell not only to document the rich history I have learned, but to honor and share the teachings I have received directly from my teacher, Ye Yuequan, ensuring that this knowledge reaches new generations of practitioners around the world.

Why «Bronze Bell»?

The name «Bronze Bell» honors both the literal translation of Tong Zhong Gong (铜钟功) and the qualities this practice cultivates: solidity, resonance, emptiness, and the capacity to «ring» with internal power. Like a bronze bell, the practitioner learns to stand firm, to be hollow yet full, and to vibrate with energy that extends outward without losing their center.

A Living Tradition
Tong Zhong Gong is not a relic of the past—it is a living tradition, passed down through generations of dedicated practitioners. Through this website, I hope to connect sincere students with this tradition and with the opportunity to learn directly from its source in Wenzhou.

«The authentic transmission of an internal art is like passing a flame from one lamp to another—the light remains the same, yet it illuminates new spaces.»
